The Dialog in the Dark Towel
Towel production
Towel properties such as color fading, loss of fluffiness and absorbency can be quantified, but sensory properties such as how well the towel dries you and how it feels on your skin can be learned only by asking consumers. To get the best feedback possible, Tanaka Industries implemented a towel quality monitoring study, working with visually impaired attendees of Dialog in the Dark Japan for their enhanced use of their touch and hearing abilities. All of the testers reported their experiences over repeated use of a variety of towels created by Tanaka Industries. This feedback provided valuable sensory information that they had been unable to obtain in prior studies.
Based on the study, Tanaka Industry towel experts began development on products that could be made in Imabari, resulting in three exceptional towels produced with new weaving and processing methods and optimal fabric.
Tanaka Industries is a towel manufacturer with their main office and plant in a city known for towel production, Imabari on Shikoku Island. With dyeing support from the Toyo Fiber Cooperative, Tanaka Industries weaves the material and processes the towels through the final stage under strict quality control, ensuring their customers receive only the finest quality.
