Three soap products made with indigofera using a cold process
Stirring the ingredients during the 60-day maturing process
Indigo Studios created the first soap in Japan to be produced from indigofera grown without agricultural fertilizers or pesticides. The plant indigofera is a plant with natural pigmentation, and its active essence is extracted for its cleansing properties. The production process is completely done by hand and with minimal heating to maximize the aesthetic appeal while minimizing the impact on the environment.
Indigofera comes in many colors, including different shades of indigo and white. These properties are blended in a way that complement each other for a stunning result. Indigofera is said to be the secret behind the beauty of the women of Japan (and especially Tokushima). Indigo Studio blends ample quantities of extract to provide excellent antibacterial and whitening effects, creating products that leave your skin clean without tightening.
The effective ingredients in indigofera extract and oil are delicate, so heating is kept to an absolute minimum, and the product undergoes a 60-day maturing process. Finally the ingredients are crafted into the soap product, a treat for the skin that provides gentle care when washing. All of the ingredients in Indigo Studio soap products are natural and biodegradable, quickly breaking down into their natural states, so soil and water pollution is not a concern. No synthetic or mineral-derived ingredients that quickly penetrate the skin are used, making Indigo Studio's soap safe for use by even people with sensitive skin. Perfumes are also available, made from natural essential oils.
Indigo Studio’s products are non-toxic.
Indigo Studio was founded in November 2005. They develop and produce hand-crafted soap from natural ingredients that include indigofera from Awa, Tokushima in Japan. They also produce and sell indigo goods made from indigofera that has been naturally fermented with potash.
